5 surprises about Google Zurich

As one of our largest engineering sites, Zurich is a hotspot for international engineers and teams who are always busy creating products that impact millions of people. It’s serious business, but also a ton of fun. The office is equipped with fire poles, a James Bond room (with a secret backdoor), and even a rock wall. Open the door to Google Zurich, where Zooglers are empowered to bring new ideas to life everyday.

  1. Our Zurich offices are located on the grounds of the former Hürlimann brewery, and many historical architectural components of the site remain to commemorate its important history. Our main buildings sit atop the former horse grazing fields and the newest building is located in the former stables. In it's prime, Hurlimann was recognized as one of the city's most beloved employers (we hope to live up to this standard).

  2. The Flight Simulator in Google Earth was built by a Zoogler engineer and hobby pilot.

  3. The site is a short walk away from gorgeous Lake Zurich and just an hour away from incredible skiing in the Swiss Alps. Tips up!

  4. This office sets a new Google interior design standard. The site has a range of Googley features including a corkscrew slide, a squash court, a Jungle Lounge with 100 plants, a western-style saloon (complete with piano), and creatively decorated Swiss gondolas positioned throughout the building. Are you ready to ride?

  5. Listen up—we play the ‘Heidi’ song at 5 pm every Friday, where we have beer, snacks and fun themes. Grab a coffee or beer ahead of time at the Hürlimann Bar.
