Scaled Abuse Lead, Trust and Safety, YouTube

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience managing partnerships with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams.
  • Experience with data analytics.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience creating opportunities to innovate and seeing them through to completion is critical, especially when working in complex international and multi-functional teams.
  • Consultative problem solving and project management experience, with experience in data management, metrics analysis, experiment design, and automation.
  • Product and policy knowledge, the ability to both understand and design training road maps and an ability to communicate and persuade between multiple levels.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to translate analytical insights into business strategies and actions.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

As a Scaled Abuse Lead, you will analyze large-scale data and scaled systems of review. You will grow in a fast and dynamic environment. You will be a key contributor to the strategy for reducing network badness on YouTube. You will be an independent, critical thinker with sound metrics judgment with the ability to coach others, solve technological challenges, and set scalable standards. You will balance the short-term requirements we face while demonstrating the ability to see the big picture and make quantitatively based long-term recommendations accordingly.

This role may be exposed to graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content during team escalations in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and represent Scaled Abuse operations and YouTube Trust and Safety within the YouTube APAC ecosystem. Collaborate closely with vendor stakeholders and partners in engineering, product, policy, partnerships, and legal to drive complex solutions to address abusive content and behavior.
  • Manage a team and formulate a practical and high impact long-term strategy and operations outlook of abuse/spam fighting for the enforcement of YouTube policies.
  • Identify large operational scaled abuse and spam trends and develop and deploy operational countermeasures on a tight schedule.
  • Lead and mentor the team to perform deep operational investigations, conducting content reviews in line with policy, managing policy enforcement escalations and developing new enforcement guidelines for policies.
  • Lead and mentor the team to participate in the creation and deployment of vendor solutions to address enforcement gaps and gray policy areas.
